About PRIDELAND MASTIFFS

Prideland Mastiffs has been a small hobby breeder and exhibitor since the 1980's. We pride ourselves on raising dogs not only of the proper type, but also of the proper temperament. As a dog trainer, I believe obedience plays a great role in making a mastiff, or any dog for that matter, a welcome addition to a family. Our dogs are socialized from the earliest age, obedienced trained and then shown either in conformation and/or obedience, proving the sound "family" temperament that a mastiff should hold. Most of our dogs go on to become "Therapy" dogs, visiting convalescent hospitals on a weekly basis.

Prideland Mastiffs has utilized the input and knowledge of several long time breeders to aid in the production of sound quality dogs. From early on, both Pam Mettrick and Cynthia Campbell gave great insight to the proper stature and temperament of an english mastiff. Donna Bahlman, Old School Mastiffs, as well as Ana Bodin, Bodinmoor Mastiffs, produced excellent typey mastiffs which contibuted to the knowledge of producing the mastiff that we strive to produce. Included in the backgound of today's present dog is Sam Owens, Semper Fi Mastiffs, who provided volumes of knowledge to produce the correct type of mastiff.

Prideland Mastiffs would have to attribute it's success in producing quality, typey and sound dogs to all of those listed above, but the greatest asset to our kennel has been Clark Henderson, "Mystery Mountain Mastiffs". I have worked very closely with Clark in order to produce what a true mastiff should be. Clark has produced numerous incredible specimans, and together, we have and are striving to continue this tradition. Prideland Mastiffs has few litters and attempts to make sure all of the puppies produced go to the proper homes, whether show or pet.

If you are interested in a potential mastiff, I encourage you to contact me or one of the many reputable breeders to have "hands on contact" with this great breed before attempting to own one. They are incredible dogs, but are not for everyone. Any dog is a large responsibility...a mastiff is even a greater responsibilty.
